Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls are in Southern Africa formed by the Zambezi River at the borders of Zambia and Zibabwe. Explorer David Livingston, the Scott missionnary, is supposed to be the first to view the falls on November 16th 1855 and gave the name of Queen Victoria to them but the indigenous nomination by the locals is " The smoke that thunders" due to the massive foam and roar, both arising from the bulk of the falling water. The spray from the falls typically rises to a height of over 400m and is visible from 50 km away. At fullmoon a moonbow can be seen rising in the spray instead of the usual one in daylight. Based on its width of 1700m and height of 400m, the falls result in the worlds largest sheet of falling water also haviing roughly twice the height of North America Niagara Falls.
Victoria Falls extend in both countries,Zambia and Zibabwe but in the latter is their most spectacular part.
In the photos I did my best as far as sight is concerned but, unfortunately the incredible roar is absent!...

i've gazed in awe at niagara. to look up at victoria falls with its gigantic rocks and the ravines… it would probably make me faint on the spot! ; ) impressively captured, alexander! that section of it, where the riverscape on the edge of the cliff seems to be resting on a milky column of glass – what a mystifying spectacle! greetings, sabine. p.s.: can only image, what a holy and blessed place this must be for a continent that's so dry and arid in other regions!aliciagzl 28/11/2015 20:44
