It was an exercise of video, choreography, theater, contemporary dance, music and photography
without public in order to carry out a subsequent exhibition.
It's a moment prior to the exercise,
studying a text on which it would be worked afterwards.

Gracias a todos los que habéis dedicado tiempo a observar y valorar esta foto, especialmente a las 37 personas que consideran que es una buena imagen para formar parte de la galería.Eddie, he leído tu mensaje varias veces. Me ha sorprendido como has captado exactamente lo que estaba ocurriendo en esos momentos. La bailarina estaba preparando su interpretación después de al menos 40 minutos de calentamiento. Sus músculos estaban ya templados y su cuerpo estaba trabajando bajo una intensa concentración. No puedo describir mejor que tú este momento.

Eddie Maguire I have read your message several times. It has surprised me as you have grasped exactly what was happening in those moments. This dancer was preparing her interpretation afterwards of at least 40 minutes of warming. Her muscles were already warm and her body was already working under an intense concentration. I could not explain better than you the moment.

Okay.. I've had to take 'Hi Ho Silver' out of his stable and come to the defence of this work.There is a process that comes into play before people begin any activity.. they make their preparations, get dressed, prepare their minds, their bodies and get ready to start bringing all the elements of study, mind and body together. They have to grasp concept, music, space and movement and bring them all together seamlessly in their performance. It takes great concentration and practice and patience. Josep has caught a moment where the performer is moving into a separate state of mind from the normal. Immersing herself into the work, becoming meditative. Look at the lines her body has struck, the diagonal of her left leg and right arm, the muscular tension in her right leg and the relaxed pose of her left arm. Her body is speaking in opposites while her mind is transposing what she sees on the page into her muscular memory. She is working out what she is about to ask of her body and how that will translate to the audience; still to arrive. It is a moment of perfection. It won't last into the performance for it is transient.. fleeting.. lasts for such a short time and is part of the larger part of the performance the audience never gets to see. It is unique. It is part of the dance but it is also stillness. It is all the work that the dancer brings to her performance but never reveals. She looks almost statuesque.. the reserved power and energy of her body revealed in the muscles and controlled stillness of her pose.
Josep's photograph has captured all of that, the dark background has focussed attention on his subject with the right detail of the stage to give her context. He has controlled the light perfectly to reveal enough detail in what must have been shaded areas like her face and the top of her legs but not over-exposed her back. Technically the use of black and white has simplified what is a very complicated moment and given it a timelessness. There is only the dancer and her page and the space she occupies. It is a wonderful photograph and the moment is perfection itself.
It is photography in a class of its own and seldom get to see.
