      This is a valley on the edge of the hills themselves. Yes, you are right - the character of the cheviot hills is of bare, rounded, upland hills. If you are interested in getting a fuller picture of this specific location - google crookhouse.com. 
      However - the self-catering cottages - which probably have the best views in northumberland -  are probably a bit too expensive for my own family.
      Thanks for appreciating my pictures. I am fond of my county - Northumberland - and I like sharing images of it. mark.
