Ruby Thorated Hummingbird

The most common hummingbird seen east of the Rockie Mountain range, There have been rare siting of other hummingbirds but very rarely, They are now migrating south into Mexico for the winter. This is the first one we have seen in our yard in six years. Se is a steady visitor.

the poetry and grace of his pose – wow! such a tiny creature and such an accomplished aerial acrobat! i've always envied the new world their humming birds! even as far north as lake michigan i saw them frequent people's feeders and look quite magical, when buzzing around them like little fairies… greetings, sabine. p.s.: love the soft grain of the background and how it matches the plumage of the bird perfectly in color!
