The Church of Our Lady of the Lapa

The Church of Our Lady of the Lapa is situated in the city of Oporto, and constitutes one of the valencies of the Venerable Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Lapa.
Church
In 1754, the founding Priest Ângelo Sequeira was preaching for the city of Oporto, with the intention of building a chapel in honor of Our Lady of the Lapa. In 1755, XIV received, to the 29th of July, the papal bulla of the Blessed Holy Father, and result of the generous charities of the loyal ones, there began to be built the Chapel of Our Lady of the Lapa of the Confessions.
Two years later, the Administrative Table of the Brotherhood was decided by the construction of a new church, according to moth of the architect José de Figueiredo Seixas. The construction of the church was dragged for more than 100 years, due to the resource shortage and the invasions napoleónicas. From 1835, the interior of the church welcomes the heart of the king D. Peter IV, sheltered, from 1837, in a monument built along Coast It Files and located in the Capela-Mor, from the side of the Gospel.
More recently, in 1995, the church acquired a monumental Organ of Tubes ex-libris of the Brotherhood, since there were one of the best and the most beautiful of the whole Iberian Peninsula. The Organ reveals itself, still, a basic piece in the realization of the famous concerts promoted by the church.
