The Living Forest (409) : Buff-tip

This brightly-colored insect with black & yellow patterns and covered with lots of hairs is the caterpillar of a buff-tip, a moth that lives across most of Europe.

Unlike the colourful caterpillar, the buff-tip moth has an inconspicuous gray color.

Dutch name : Wapendrager (rups)
German name : Mondvogel (Raupe)
Latin name : Phalera bucephala (ærugini)
