The Living Forest (512) : Gatekeeper

The gatekeeper (also known as hedge brown) is a butterfly that prefers to live in a habitat where grasses grow in association with bushes, like woodland clearings or meadow margins.

This butterfly tends to rest always with its wings open, a benefit for photographers :-))
This way we can see very well the double pupils on its eyespots.

Latin name : Pyronia tithonus
