Altarraum von S. Maria Assunta dei Gesuiti

m Jahre 1657, rund einhundert Jahre nach Gründung des Ordens, erhielten die Jesuiten die Genehmigung für einen Klosterbau in Venezia. Die dazugehörige Barockkirche wurde 1714-29 erbaut. Sie ist eine typische Kirche des Barock und entspricht im Innenraum mehr oder weniger ihrem Vorbild, Il Gesù in Rom. Der Innenraum ist aufwendig mit Marmor ausgestattet. Das wichtigste Kunstwerk in der Kirche ist zweifellos das "Martyrium des hl. Laurentius" von Tizian. Das habe ich aber nicht fotografiert, weil man's in jedem Kunstgeschichtsbuch oder am PC in besserer Fotoqualität findet.
Hier kann man schön die kunstvolle Verarbeitung des Marmors sehen.

Ob der schwarze Marmor der wütenden Pest geschuldet war?

  ..in Venezia tobte die Pest 1630 zum letzten Mal. Die Kirche S. Maria della Salute wurde dann erbaut - seitdem blieb die Stadt vom Schwarzen Tod verschont. Liebe Grüße, Ansgar

In Kirchen und Palästen mag ich es eher etwas üppig. Die frühe Gotik spricht mich nicht so an. Italienische Kirchen mit dem vielen Marmor sind schon eine großartige Kunst.

  ..ich bin da eher der schlichtere Typ...wie ich schon Ann Mari Cris erklärt habe, mag ich nicht unbedingt, was die Barock-Künstler machen - aber ich bewundere, wie sie's machen...Liebe Grüße, Ansgar

Honestly I do not love too much this overloaded style of Baroque churches, I prefer the style of early Christian and Romanesque churches, less lavish snd simpler as Jesus would like to see.

  ..me too, Crissy! I love Romanesque and Early Renaissance style...Barock and Rokoko are overloaded, indeed. But: due to my studies and my profession I admire with great respect the craftmanship of the artists from that periods! They were really good...I think no one could paint like van Dyck or Tiepolo or Fragonard...Mostly I don't like what they painted, but how they painted it...Wow!! Ciao, cara amica! Buona giornata!

  I fully agree on the exquisiteness of the Baroque that I myself love in art and architecture but not too much inside the churches because this testifies to the historical excess of the temporal power of the Catholic Popes and their shameless expression of luxury and materiality carried on through the centuries thanks to the toil and blood of the poor people.
