Castle ‘Jeanne de Merode’ at Westerlo (Belgium)

Not a medieval castle this time, but one built just 101 years ago in 16th century neogothic style as the residence of 1 (!) single person: the very rich and wealthy countess Jeanne de Merode.

Although both interior and exterior were executed in a historical style, the building contained many 'modern' features that were very rare on the countryside at the beginning of the 20th century.
The cross-beams supporting the roof were in steel and the building had electric lighting, an electric elevator, central heating and several toilets and bathrooms with running water.

Bei diesem traumhaft schönen Blick auf das Schloss kann ich nachvollziehen, dass asiatische Touristen von Europa so begeistert sind. Ich bin ebenfalls von deiner herrlichen Aufnahme begeistert!!
