Falling Star

While taking pictures in Zion I was lucky to catch this huge meteor entering the earths atmosphere.

When I watched it happening, I was amazed by how long of a streak it drew across the sky. Then I heard my camera click and became even more exited that I had captured it. I'm still amazed at how perfectly the meteor had framed itself inside my picture.

Something that is unfortunately not visible in the picture is how it broke apart into several big chuncks in the air. I think it's very well possible, that a small piece of this meteor made it all the way to the ground therefore becoming a meteorite.

PS: The bight dot on the left is Mars

Das erstaunliche ist nach meine Erfahrungen, dass man fast immer einen oder mehrere Meteore auf dem Bild ist. Bei solchen Belichtungszeiten zischt fast immer etwas durchs Bild. Das Bild mit der Milchstraße und dem Zion-Massiv ist natürlich ein Hingucker.

Alleine die Aufnahme der Milchstraße mit dem Mars in dieser Kulisse ist schon ein tolles Foto. Dazu das Glück einen Meteor auf das Bild zu bekommen ist nahezu unglaublich!
Sehr schön! Ich bin neidisch den Augenblick nicht selbst erlebt zu haben...
