How To Handle an Utter

Not every photographer that goes out has the opportunity to understand what the people are like he's shooting. At most you know the subject. This day it was monks. The opportunity came with an offer to try milking. I've never handled an utter. here's a lot to keep in mind. Within in a few strokes and hand movements I was able to please the dog by suiting milk in his mouth. I guess morning breakfast for the dog was like morning coffee fora human. Nellie was pleased that I got it right quickly, she didn't seem to mind that the hands were not of a holy monk., but rather a photographer that got to understand some of the unexpected things a monk might do and feel connected to beside prayer. Then again, somewhere in theology there is a connection to all things. My camera doest feel like an utter. Then again I'm glad.. After all the inventions of God and man do not always make a perfect fit. You kind of have to choose which to work with. At the Abbey, things in its way is like the garden of eden. I was glad to encounter and even shoot myself.

"Getting involved" seems to be the key. Thank you for the image and the words.

Terrific pic! Two things amaze me..The first the face expression, a glorious merge of tenacious effort and extreme satisfaction for having experienced and performed in a most satisfactory manner an unusual task and the second , the benevolent nature animals usually show to open their mouth and willingly accept all kind of offered food to them... Great picture!..
    best regards alex
