The town of Mesta is the most interesting medieval site on the island of Chios with a maze of little cobblestone streets, tunnels and arches. It is inhabited and, especially in summer becomes a very live place not only from turists but also from locals that currenly live elsewhere and they come to visit relatives.
The evening hour is traditionally the period for socializing and coffee with doorsteps the most common meeting point as the photo shows.
(Mamiya 645 AFD, Velvia 50 slide film 120 (6x4,5), converted to digital with Nikon Coolscan 9000 film scanner).

I like very much these angles of rough stones with so much history ,the life is still on a human scale, in the silence, only the sound of footsteps and conversation among the people, face to face, not through mobile phones! very nice shooting, with great perspective. Alexander....

What better than to end the day over a coffee with friends and neighbours sat outside your own front door in a medieval street.
