Portland Sea Pilots
Bug Light stands sentinel to Portland Harbor as Portland's Sea Pilot heads out to meet the next arrival to port. Sea Pilots meet ships about 8 miles off shore and they bring the ships into Hussey Sound. Upon entering Hussey Sound ships are met by Portland’s Harbor Tugs and the Harbor Pilot boards the ship and brings it into port.
Portland, Maine is one of the largest importing and exporting seaports in the Eastern United States for gross tonnage.
