Summer is almost over but this Red Admiral is still alive and kicking.

The Red Admiral is a butterfly living in temperate Europe, Asia and North America.
The species is known to hibernate, but in southern Europe it sometimes flies on a sunny winter day !

Dutch name : Atalanta (syn. Admiraalsvlinder)
German name : Admiral
Latin name : Vanessa atalanta
