I've been playing around with soft filters lately. This one is plastic kitchen wrap stretched over the lens then dusted with a tiny little bit of black spray paint. That yielded a nice sky, a soft look, yet the details remain. The two distant crows in between the bridge towers are quite clear. I like this method, but it may not be very easy to consistently replicate.
