The Fungi world (113) : Wild Dry Rot

I first thought this was a Lichen-covered tree, but the Lichen species was unknown to me.
According to Gruber Fred , it’s a Wild Dry Rot fungus, which is a lichen lookalike.
Thanks for the identification, Fred.

Dutch name : Dakloze huiszwam
German name : Wilder Hausschwamm
Latin name : Serpula himantioides

A beautiful winter scene, and well composed with the light illuminating the big tree trunk and this interesting fungus. Great contrasts of the bright green and the white!!!

I have seen this fungi before. Very vicious how it attacks the tree. A great shot with excellent info again

Hallo Mark,ich habe in meinem Buch gelesen das er auch auf Buchen und Eichen vorkommt.Ich bin mir ziemlich sicher das es der Serpula himantioidesist

Sehr schön, wie das Licht hier auf der Flechte und den SChnee liegt! Ein Stück Natur, das im Moment kaum von Fußgängern durchwandert wird - das gerade macht seinen Reiz aus!!! Fidn auch den Bildschnitt sehr gelungen!
