The Fungi World (184) : Branching Oyster

Late autumn. It’s getting gradually darker and colder in the forest, but there are still fungi growing there.
The party ain’t over yet !

***

The Branching Oyster is a funnel shaped fungus becoming wavy with aging.
Its soft and fragile fruiting body has a smell of flour.

Can be found from spring to autumn, mostly under elms.

Unfortunately, this striking fungus stands on the Red List of vulnerable and threatened species !

Dutch name : Trechteroesterzwam
German name : Rillstieliger Seitling
Latin name : Pleurotus cornucopiae

Well photographed and informative. Are these edible? Is that why they are disappearing so fast? I'm looking forward to using my new Sony 100mm Macro lens, come spring and the mushrooms and wildlife become active once again.

Another beauty! Sad that it is on the red list. Why is it endangered? Is it edible?

Klasse Licht! Und die Vignette finde ich absolut nicht störend....
Den Pilz schön in die rechte Ecke vom Fotografieren her platziert!
