The Living Forest (139) : Common Redpoll

When I made this shot, the light conditions were very poor and a soft drizzle was going on, but it’s the first time I saw a Common Redpoll in the wild. So, I did not hesitate.

The Common Redpoll with its characteristic red forehead belongs to the finch family.
It’s a typical inhabitant of the tundra regions of Europe and northern America, but also an irregular winter migrant to western Europe.

Dutch name : Grote Barmsijs
German name : Birkenzeisig
Latin name : Carduelis flammea

Der Birkenzeisig mit seinem roten Häupchen ist ein wunderschönes Vögelchen. Hervorragend abgelichtet.

Congratulations, Mark ... you captured a beautiful little bird - so nice its colours. I have a birch right in front of my window, but this bird is not to be seen in Vancouver!

Schade das der Zweig einen Teil vom hübschen Vogel verdeckt,dass kann man aber in der freien Natur nicht vermeiden.Von der Schärfe und den wunderschönen Hintergrund bin ich begeistert.
