Mute Swans are beautiful and monogamous birds that are usually known as lovely and gentle but they can be tremendously aggressive in defence of their nest.
Its size and impressive hissing make it a formidable adversary for animals as large as a fox.

Mute Swans even attack people who enter their territory during the breeding season as I could experience myself a couple of years ago.

Dutch name : Knobbelzwaan
German name : Höckerschwan
Latin name : Cygnus olor

I can imagine these birds can be very dangerous. Having been attacked by geese, I think these swans can only be worse

A very lovely threesome and a beautiful image .... you weren't too close this time, I hope - even the hissing can startle one.
I got attacked by a peacock last year being too involved in taking his picture - and being in a crouching position. I have respect now!!!
