A Longwing Butterfly (Heliconius erato)

Because they take in pollen, by using their saliva to liquefy it, and because pollen is so high in nutrients and protein, they are able to live for several months instead of several weeks, as is the case for most butterflies.
They are indigenous to Central and South America.
