Asian Elephant ( Elephas maximus maximus).
Among three in Asia a sub species
Elephas maximus maximus belongs to the family Elephantidae presents in Sri Lanka.
Bull elephants may be Solitary or form bachelor groups. They use infra sound for communication.
Bulls reach sexual maturity around the age of
12-15. Between the age of 10 and 20 years, bulls undergo a phenomenon known as musth. The period they become extremely aggressive and may ready for mate. Secretions containing pheromones during this period sense females.
