The city of Bangkok used to be called the Venice of the East, but unfortunately the canals in the city of Bangkok have been and are being filled up and built on more and more.
But in some areas around the megacity the klongs still retain their original appearance, especially in the outskirts of Bangkok Noi, in Nonthaburi and in the east in Minburi.
