Bass Rock Lighthouse

Bass Rock Lighthouse ist ein außergewöhnlich gelegener Leuchtturm an Schottlands Ostküste auf dem gleichnamigen Vogelfelsen. Seine niedrige Lage bedingt, dass sein Licht nicht auf die offene See hinaus Leuchten kann. Die weiße Farbe des Felsens ergibt sich aus den tausenden Seevögeln dort, wie auch aus dem, was diese dort hinterlassen.

Bass Rock Lighthouse is situated on the eastern Coastline of Scotland in a very distinctive manner. The low position means that its light will never shine onto the sea side of the rock of the same name. The white colour of on the rock is largely caused by the thousands of birds living on the rock as well as their residues they leave behind.
