Colors Of The Platte

A look at the ripples and colors formed by the flow of water over and around the sand bars. The sand bars are very important in the migration stopover of the Sandhill Cranes as they afford protection during the night hours. Also the Platte played a major role in the migration of settlers heading west for California, Oregon and Utah in the 1840's.

lapizs lazuli, was my first thought. that dark blue gem with those flecks of gold in it, like stars in a nocturnal sky… i see those colors here, too – and some semi-liquid gold flowing in from near the upper right corner. ; ) love, how you captured this concave section of the platte. makes one want to reach out and touch it… greetings, sabine.
