Common Snipe

The snipe is a rare grassland bird with a very long bill and distinctive stripes on head & back.
Its breeding habitats are marshes, bogs, tundra and wet meadows.

Hunting (especially in France) is a major cause of snipe mortality !!!

Dutch name : Watersnip
German name : Bekassine
Latin name : Gallinago gallinago

Klasse, dieses Bekassinen-Bild. Du zeigst sie hier aus optimaler Perspektive und auch in ihrem Biotop. So kann ich meine Limikolen leider in Wallnau nicht aufnehmen, da die dort mögliche Perspektive sehr aus Draufsicht besteht. Kompliment!
