] cut the sky [

"Breezes bitter in these hills
Where sunlight avalanches fields
Of corn and insects persist;
Rita there doesn't dislike anything
Except mosquitoes in the evening,
She sits back in dark glasses
Drinking soda water, the dogs
Whining, unsettled by the heat.
Come this way for nothing,
Half-filled notebooks and crazed
Lovemaking from dawn to noon—
Rita watches while ravens
With scissor wings cut the sky
Into furling blue sheets."
