Elvis Costello

The last time I saw Elvis Costello play live was thirteen years ago. I was undergoing chemotherapy at the time, bald, given a 25% chance to live three years, and alone. I will never forget when he played "I Want You" that night. You could have literally heard a pin drop, as if the audience was collectively holding it's breath. When I took this picture of him he asked me to have a look. As I was showing him and realising how good it was the memory of that night came flooding back and I started crying. He asked me if I was going to be alright as I explained what had caused the waterworks. When I said I was going to be okay he said goodbye and walked away. I put my camera in my car and went to dinner. This was the first concert I have attended in over a year without taking a single live shot. Somehow, I am okay with that.
