European herring gull
The European herring gull is a large gull with a typical red spot on its yellow bill.
It’s one of the best known of all gulls along the shores of western Europe.
The male and female plumage is identical at all stages of development, however adult males are often larger.
Like most gulls, European herring gulls are long lived. The highest age ever recorded is 49 years.
