Garuda image the Myth

Balinese tradition venerated Garuda as "the lord of all flying creatures", and "the majestic king of birds". In Bali, Garuda traditionally portrayed as a divine creature with head, beak, wings, and claw of an eagle, while has the body of a human.
Allover the island of Bali the Garuda image wood carving or sculpted in clay is offered for souvenir to purchase. This sculpture is available for around 1000 dollars US.

The photo is a scan from a KODAchrome 64 ASA diapositive photo captured in June 2001.

    Nicht umsonst heißt Indonesiens Airline "Garuda".

      Man sollte wissen, Indonesien ist mit seinen über 17.500 Inseln und den weltweit meisten Moslems (191 Millionen) kein islamisches Land, sondern eine Nation der fünf Religionen, wie auch die hinduistische (4,646 Millionen) auf Bali und anderen Gebieten oder die streng katholische (30 Millionen) vorwiegend auf den östlichen Inseln, gefolgt vom Buddhismus (2,1 Millionen) und nicht zuletzt die javanische Religion (Kejawèn) und den Konfuzionismus.
      Darum ist der Garuda Vogel das Warzeichen Indonesiens.
