Gokyo Lake, Nepal (4750 m)

This photo was taken in mid november. The night before, it had snowed a fair deal, and some people in the lodge were getting anxious if and when they would be able to move on, walk back down, or even go higher up. And what a morning it was after a good night's rest! We started off in warm clothing, but had to strip off when we reached the other side of the lake. The snow was already beginning to melt again at lake level at 8:30 in the morning.
