last weekend at the Sakura Japanese cherry blossom festival in Vancouver's VanDusen Gardens .. besides various flutes this musician also played the shamisen ..
The shamisen (meaning "three strings"), is a three-stringed traditional Japanese musical instrument. It is played with a plectrum called a bachi.

It seems, that he ist very concentrated while playing his shamisen. I'm wondering about his wooden sandals. It seems a little bit curious to me.

  thank you, Bernd, typically Japanese clogs of yesteryear but still worn with traditional Japanese clothes, and socks that are devided between the big toe and the other four toes :-)))

The sakura flowers ( cherry tree) blooming was very short this year, due to too much rain and wind. I regret the beautiful pink vision on the trees. Instead of that, we had a pink snow on the pavements ! Nice capture of the Japanese musician - Funny that he plays the shamisen just like a rock star !! Warm regards, Elvi
