Leaf Footed Bug on a Rose
Found this fascinating creature on a rose in my backyard. I asked a friend (who happens to be an entomologist) what it is, and he said it is a "Leaf Footed Bug". I said, "that's it? a 'bug'?" I guess there are such things as...well....just bugs, after all.

Wow, thank you. This wasn't even taken with my macro lens--I didn't own one yet. I have a couple of fun photos of a baby praying mantis too that I'll post as soon as I am able. I love the insects in my yard...well, MOST of them!By the way, I love that photo of the Armillary Sphere that you have on your site.
