It seems, everything is a bit different down there. European Poppies are usually red here.

I brought some poppy seeds from my last vacation in western USA. They will be yellow when they hopefully going to bloom next year.
Lovely details in the petals. They look like delicate paper.
A happy new year to you too. You will see the new year some hours early before me
