Renon Earth Pyramids close view

The Renon Earth Pyramids are the highest and most beautiful in Europe. They are erosion phenomena and arise where ice-age glaciers have deposited moraine clay in valleys.
The material is rock hard when dry. When it comes into contact with water, it turns into a loamy mush that flows down the valley. But under large stones, the clay remains protected from the rain and is therefore dry and hard - only the material around the stone is washed away. This is how pillars of earth are formed, which get higher with every rainfall. If the capstone falls from the top of the pyramid, however, it is doomed to a quick demise, because then the clay is exposed to the rain here too; it softens and is carried away with the precipitation.
