Auf dem Weg nach Kenia haben wir eine Woche in Jordanien verbracht, mit Schwerpunkt in Petra.
Wir haben Glück gehabt, weil wir deshalb die Ereignisse des 7. Oktober verpasst haben.
Das Bild zeigt das römische Theater in Amman von der Zitadelle aus gesehen. Es ist wahrscheinlich im 2. Jahrhundert AD gebaut worden. In römischen Zeiten wurde die Stadt damals Philadelphia genannt, ein Name, den die meisten Menschen heutzutage mit der Großstadt in Pennsylvania, USA verbinden.

On the way to Kenya, we spent a week in Jordan, with an emphasis on Petra. We were lucky in that we missed the horrible event of October 7 and its aftermath.
The picture shows the Roman Theatre in Amman as viewed from the Citadel. It was probably built in the 2nd century AD. In Roman times, the city was called Philadelphia, a name that most people nowadays would attribute to the major city in Pennsylvania, USA.
