Hier das Foto eines Sparrigen Schüpplings (Pholiota squarrosa (WEIGEL : FR.) P. KUMM.) aus der Familie der Träuschlingsverwandten (Strophariaceae), innerhalb der Agaricomycetes. Er hat ein schwaches Gift, dass früher aber auch gerne mal ignoriert wurde. Man findet ihn am Fuße von Laubbäumen, egal ob tot oder lebendig, und ist ein klassischer Weißfäule-Pilz. Solche Pilze sind in der Lage, Lignin abzubauen, eine der komplexesten und hartnäckigsten Strukturen im Pflanzenreich. Ohne diese Pilze würde kein Holz der Welt verrotten und die Nährstoffe wären auf ewig im Holz gefangen. Eine wichtige Aufgabe die von uns Menschen kaum beachtet wird.

It possesses a weak poison but was thought to be edible in older times. The fungus is found on deciduous trees, no matter if dead or alive, and is a typical white-rot fungus. These white-rots are able to degrade lignin, one of the most complex and difficult to process plant compounds. Without these fungi, no wood would decay, and stored nutrients would be lost forever. These fungi have one of the most underrated and important roles in the forest!
