The Birch Bolete is a typical deciduous forest fungus that grows nearly always in the neighbourhood of birches.

This specimen here survived the recently cold wave wonderfully well so far.

Dutch name : Berkenboleet
German name : Birkenpilz
Latin name : Leccinum scabrum

He is a beauty - and for once a fungus I have seen here. Excellent close up capture in great light and sharpness, and nice with all the fall birchleaves on the ground.

Never seen one of these. You often tell us, that the one or other fungus is very common...hm ... think I must be blind on that eye...or do I have to crawl through the forest to see them...? :-)))
