The Middle Ages (80) : Stable boy and Princess

This series is an attempt to illustrate how life was going on in the Middle Ages.

When a royal princess went on a journey, a whole lot of servants went along.
The stable boy had not only to care for the horses, but also to wash the hair of the princess if needed.

Did you know that a mixture of goat milk and herbs was used as ‘shampoo’ ?

: )) stable boys washing the hair of their princesses – sounds like risky business to me… one false move and it's "off with their heads!" ; ) great scene, very dynamic! judging from his sly and slightly distracted expression, i'd say the stable boy is secretely ogling some other maiden, while applying the shampoo… as i said: you're skating on thin ice, here buddy! ; ) greetings, sabine.

a beautiful scene ... I am fascinated by the little animal pelt the stable boy is wearing on his hat ... and the "potion" for washing her hair - I have heard that lately there is a trend to no longer use shampoo for washing one's hair :-))
