Tobacco plants growing in a field

Tobacco is cultivated similarly to other agricultural products. Seeds were at first quickly scattered onto the soil.
After the plants are about four centimeters tall, they are transplanted into the fields as shown here on the photo.
Farmers used to have to wait for rainy weather to plant. A hole is created in the tilled earth with a tobacco peg, either a curved wooden tool or deer antler. After making two holes to the right and left, the planters would move forward half a meter, select plants from the bag, and starts again.

danke Benita, während ich die letzten Fotos von Kuba bearbeite, sitze ich mit einer Partagás Zigarre an meinem Mac und denke an die schöne Zeit in Viñales. Gruß aus Bangkok Wolfgang

...sehr schöne Bildgestaltung und ich bin erstaunt wie groß die Tabakpflanzen dort schon waren....bei unserer Besichtigung in Pinar del Rio waren sie noch viel kleiner....sehr schön sieht man hier die Farbe der Erde die so wichtig ist fürs gedeihen der Tabakpflanze...ich spüre jetzt noch die feuchte Luft die dieses Gebiet mit zu dem wichtigen Tabakzentrum macht....VLG Benita
