Where I come from (not that that is of any importance ;-) an empty chair is a symbol of invitation. Being thus invited let me add my comment…I like your profile aphorism about the parallel worlds and indeed online communities often risk being just that. Something has gone missing it seems. Bingo! That is exactly what this photo is about! It says "if" or when (?) grandma tells her stories. Has she gone? Will she be back? The chair is empty, or is it indeed an invitation for 'a grandma' to sit down to tell us her stories; she will find a (several) compassionate ear(s)? Yes indeed the R i t u a l (that powerful, magnificent and profound manner) of story telling is becoming an endangered species…unless we take the time, to sit down and listen (more often) to others, or as in this case admire a simple photo but which has a lot to S a y! As my uncle used to say 'in diesem Sinne' I hope that there are more people who take the time "to read the writing on the wall" (Bob Dylan). Congrats! Great photo!Memoirs 29/07/2008 0:23

...oh ja..., das erinnert mich auch an meine Kindheit! Meine Oma hat immer in so einem "Ohren-Sessel" gesessen und uns vorgelesen...Perfektes SW mit schönen Kontrasten und klasse Licht!
