Witch-Hazel

The witch-hazel is in full bloom at the moment !
It’s a well known strong winter bloomer with striking shaped flowers.

This large shrub or small deciduous tree, native to China, Japan and north America, was introduced into European gardens at the end of the 19th century.

My picture shows a cross breeding between a Chinese and a Japanese witch-hazel.

Dutch name : Toverhazelaar
German name : Zaubernuss
Latin name : Hamamelis intermedia (H. mollis x H. japonica)

Bottom left in the picture you can see a macro detail of the flowers.

Das ist aber ein ganz besonders schönes Exemplar - in dieser Größe sieht man sie nicht so oft! Wunderbar, die Farben und das Licht... und eine wundervolle Aufnahme...
