Dog Rose

The Dog Rose is a climbing wild rose species (native to Europe, northwest Africa and western Asia) with flowers that are usually pale pink, but can vary between a deep pink and white.

In the 18th and 19th century this plant was used to treat the bite of rabid dogs, hence the name "dog rose".

German name : Hunds-Rose
Latin name : Rosa canina

did it help? the dog rose treatment?? you know, i had wondered about that strange name! weirdly enough, in german, some people also call the dandelion a "hundeblume"… very interesting indeed! and, as always, a beautiful shot of the dog rose blossom – for me it's one of those flowers that radiate both a pleasant "thisworldliness" and an ethereal delicacy! oh, and what a lovely fragrance most of them fill the air with!! greetings, sabine.
