Islamic architecture in morocco palaces

Morocco
Rabat,Fez, Mecnes, Marakesh

Morocco is the only North African monarchy and virtually the only Arab country never to experience Ottoman rule.
The photos presented in my gallery is part of a work on islamic architecture exhibited in Thessaloniki four years ago. The initial shooting was done on Velvia slides(35mm, 120 6x4,5 and later converted to digital with the help of NIKON COOLSCAN 8000. Finally I decided to exhibit my work in b+w and much criticised for that. The reason is that-to my opinion- arabic architecture being purely "iconoclastic" definitely looks more impressive and glamorus in a cascade of colorful photos but, in the same time and always to my opinion, this work would probably look a bit "shaby",unreasonably mean and "turistic" and thus distructing attention and interest from the "intimate and distinct detail" which is really something to admire in the islamic architecture of the arabian palaces. After all, quite often, architecture expresses a genius combination of detail and transcendence.

In this photo is presented the "inner yard" a most impressive element to admire in the architecture of the palaces.
