The Living Forest (503) : Brimstone

The brimstone is a butterfly that lives in Europe, North Africa and Asia as far east as Mongolia.

It’s one of the longest living butterflies, up to 13 months, although most of its time is spent in hibernation (sometimes its long sleep begins already by the end of august).

It’s also often the first butterfly to be seen in spring, sometimes as early as january when hibernating adults of this species are awoken on a mild sunny day.

German name : Zitronenfalter
Latin name : Gonepteryx rhamni

You have made a good attempt here, choosing to go in tight on the butterfly. The composition works well, and the sharp focus draws the attention to the flower. However I'd like to see a bit more space above and below the butterfly. The butterfly itself is very well exposed. Excellent close-up photo. Well done!!!!

Hab ihn auch schon fliegen gesehen, aber nicht erwischt. Du hast ihn mit einer guten Schärfe fotografiert vor dem dunklen Laub.

Markant und nahezu allgegenwärtig ist dieser hübsche Falter. Sein Zitronengelb leuchtet perfekt auf den vertrockneten Blättern.
