The most famous Lift of Lisbon..Elevador da Bica.
The Lift was built by Engineer Portuguese Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard, also responsible for numerous similar projects. The inauguration took place on June 28, 1892.
It was initially powered by the system of «Water balance and the tramway system-cab». In 1896 he went to move by steam and then in 1914 proceeded to its electrification. That same year he had an accident and was stopped for nine years.
With over a century of existence, the Bica lift is the most typical of Lisbon andi it`s today one of the main attractions of the Portuguese capital.
Due to its enormous historical and cultural importance, the elevator was classified as a National Monument in February 2002
The two cars are identical and numbered 1 and 2 and they are composed of three compartments with horizontal floor uneven and independent access. The anterior and posterior compartments contain their command posts. The inputs and outputs of each compartment is made by doors fitted with pantograph cancels, on the western side of each carriage.
Each carriage can carry 23 passengers, nine of which seated and 14 standing.
The Lift is owned by Carris de Ferro de Lisboa, and establishes the link between the Calhariz Largo in Bairro Alto and St. Paul Street, facing one of the steepest slopes of the city

Die berühmte Bergbahn.In Dresden gibts übrigens auch eine, eigentlich zwei - eine Standseilbahn und eine Seilbahn.
