Vilar da Veiga (Serra do Gerês) Portugal

In constitution it is the most recent parish of the county, since it was erected in century XVIII, and only in 1855 it was integrated in the territorial constitution of Terras de Bouro. He was born of a bourgeois "farmhouse" in the thirteenth century, as the Inquiries of 1258 refer.
Vilar da Veiga is located on the south bank of the Gerês mountain range and is separated from the parish of Rio Caldo by the Gerês river, which flows south from the Cávado river.
Like the existence of the parish, the Matriz is a recent building, with an altar and the collateral in Baroque style, being the oracle Santo António.
From the set of chapels comes in invocation to S.ª Angústias and S.ª da Saúde, in place of Vilar, Santa Marinha, in the chapel and chapel of Santa Eufémia, in the baths that functioned as a royal chapel, ordered to be built by D. João V.
