Originally (from 1070 on) built for defending purposes by William I the Conqueror, Windsor Castle is now the biggest and longest occupied castle in the world. Nowadays the Queen and her family (the Windsors) are still living here. This photo shows the southside of the Lower Ward, outside the walls. This is the 23th upload in my series of 23 Rural Castles in France, Germany, UK and Luxembourg.
