With deep respect to Edward Weston....yes Edward Weston inspired me to follow his fascination. Indeed it took some time for me to be courageous enough to try to "copy" the master.... I'm sure that almost every amateur photographer seeing the photos of the famous masters has this inhibition.

Many years ago I stood in Yosemite Park and had the same view as Ansel Adams had years before... (there was no cross marked :-) ) I hesitated first to expose the film..... After all we should be aware that "everything" has been photographed in the meantime. The only question remaining is - and this is existential for us - HOW DID I MAKE THIS PHOTO?

As you see, "Nautilus Shell #1" can also be understood as a provocation.

i can perfectly understand people's fascination with that eon old mollusk! its name alone sounds like an epic adventure… and it's aesthetically arched shape and beautiful zebra-patterns – magic motif and shot! a great tribute to edward weston, too, who seems to have discovered the nautilus's flowing shape in various other natural objects, too – the cabbage leave, the pepper, the toilet and the female body being only some of them ; ))… greetings, sabine. p.s.: i like how the angular frame clashes with the smooth shape of the motif!
