Stone formations in Pha Taem National Park

Mystical-looking, mushroom-shaped rocks, called Sao Chaliang by the locals, surprise the viewer with their unusual shape and give them the feeling of entering a strange world that seems to resemble a surreal Star Wars movie decoration. The rock sculptures consist of two different types of sandstone from the Cretachian period, 130 million years old, and the age of the dinosaurs, 180 million years old, and were given their remarkable shape by the forces of nature, rain and wind.
The picture was captured in the province Ubon Rachathani with a Kodachome 64 ASA color reversal film and scanned with a Nikon CoolScan V ED.
