The old Hamburg Elbe tunnel fascinated me even as a child. You go down there in the middle of the harbor at the famous Landungsbrücken and can cross the river Elbe on foot underground or, more precisely, underwater. Built in 1907-1911, it has a uniquely beautiful architecture with tiles and ceramic panels depicting sea or river animals. And on a hot summer's day, it's fantastic to dive into the cool underworld...
